Ann Burkhardt

NYSOTA honors Dr. Ann Burkhardt with first ever NYSOTA President’s Award
Ann Burkhardt (OTR/L, OTD, FAOTA) is the first recipient of the newly developed NYSOTA President’s award. This award honors people who made an outstanding contribution to the profession of Occupational Therapy and the New York State Occupational Therapy Association in particular, over an extended period of time. Dr. Burkhardt has been an active and involved Occupational Therapist in New York State and nationally, for many decades now. She was the NYSOTA Newsletter editor for more than ten years and is also a past-president of the Association. She has received numerous awards both locally and nationally and is a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association. She is an honorary member of NYSOTA and has motivated and mentored many Occupational Therapy practitioners to walk that extra line and volunteer for the betterment of the profession. She recently decided to move to Rhode Island to assist her parents and is currently the director of the Post-professional Masters program at Quinnipiac University. Even though she moved out of New York State, she will always be an integral part of NYSOTA in our hearts and in our history. Izel Obermeyer (NYSOTA President, 2007-2011)
