With Heartfelt Sadness

Gary Kielhofner, noted occupational therapist, researcher, and author of the Model of Human Occupation, died peacefully in his sleep early on Thursday September 2nd. He influenced our profession and touched many individuals. We have lost a great friend and visionary. Please keep Gary's family in your thoughts and prayers. The New York State Occupational Therapy Association (NYSOTA) is the only professional organization for Occupational Therapy in New York State.


Our Mission

Our mission is to promote the profession of occupational therapy and to represent the occupational therapy practitioners who work and live in New York State.

  • NYSOTA is a membership organization with a very strong legislative and advocacy agenda. We contribute to the Occupational Therapy Practice Act and the Continuing Competency Act - two bills that are directly related to the licensure and regulation of Occupational Therapy in New York State.

  • NYSOTA is an AOTA Approved Provider of Continuing Education. NYSOTA hosts education events throughout the state. The annual NYSOTA conference is usually the highlight of these events. NYSOTA strives to provide education of exceptional quality for an affordable price to its members.

Support Occupational Therapy

Become a supporter of Occupational Therapy. If you are a practitioner, join the association, volunteer your time for NYSOTA activities, or allow others to do more through your membership dollars. If you or a family member received, or are receiving occupational therapy services, donate to NYSOTA to help us improve the quality of care through research and education. Look out for our new “Give a HAND to OT” campaign and you can “Help And Nurture Development (HAND) in OT.
