Research Grant Awarded to Dawn M. Nilsen Ed.D., OT/L
It was an honor for the Hudson-Taconic District to award Dawn M. Nilsen Ed.D., OT/L, Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine Programs in Occupational Therapy, Columbia University Neurological Institute a $500.00 research grant for her project: "Reliability of the Dartfish - video analysis system for evaluating the kinematics of reaching and walking activities." We wish Dawn much success with the project and look forward to her sharing with us the outcome of her research.

CarFit Events: Kingston & Rhinebeck
CarFit Technician trainings and Car Fit events scheduled for May 17 in Kingston and May 19 in Rhinebeck. Join other OT practitioners at this exciting and informative free program designed to help senior drivers improve the "fit" of their vehicle to remain safe and independently mobile.
CarFit is a program created by the American Society on Aging, AARP, AAA and AOTA. Volunteers assist senior drivers in determining if their car “fits” them properly and helps them adjust their car to remain safely mobile. The CarFit event uses trained CarFit Technicians to do car “check-ups”. OTs and COTAs can be integrally involved in the process either as Technicians or in check out interviews where drivers are introduced to various adaptive devices that can be used in the car.

Hudson Taconic District Award
Annually the Hudson Taconic District of NYSOTA presents three awards to individuals acknowledging their contributions. Certificate of Merit for Service honors a member or members of HTD for outstanding contributions to the profession of Occupational Therapy. Certificate of Merit for Practice recognizes a member or members of HTD who, with their knowledge and expertise, have made a significant contribution to the advancement of the profession of Occupational Therapy. Certificate of Appreciation recognizes a non–OT that has contributed to the profession by providing services that promote Occupational Therapy. This is your opportunity to recommend a person who deserves the recognition.
