Mental Health OT in NYC: Walk for Mental Health
Occupational therapists working in mental health, wellness and obesity management are featured in a ten-minute video on You Tube. National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) members, occupational therapists and other health care providers discuss the benefits derived from a walking program developed last year in preparation for a NAMI Walk for Mental Illness Awareness event in NYC. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
E-Blasts are periodic NYSOTA emails that are packed with information regarding OT practice issues, legislative alerts, upcoming professional development opportunities, and other information relevant to your practice. E-Blasts area a valuable member benefit that help you to stay current and fresh. If you have not yet supplied NYSOTA with a valid email address, please do so by contacting the NYSOTA Office.
If you use a personal email account, please check the settings on that account to ensure that bulk mail from info@nysota.org is accepted (and not automatically directed to a "spam" or "junk mail" folder)
If you use an email address that is routed through a business server, please check with your IT professionals to ensure that the NYSOTA email address is not blocked.

You’re up for NBCOT renewal and you’re scrambling to remember all of your professional development activities for the past 3 years! Fear not. Your friends at NYSOTA have kept a file of all NYSOTA approved continuing education (CEU) activities you’ve attended over the past three years. And that valuable information is right at your fingertips. Here’s how to access it:
-
Just log onto NYSOTA.org
-
Move your mouse curser over the Site Menu tab.
-
Scroll down to Member Services.
-
And click CEU Tracker.
-
There, you will find an up-to-date record of NYSOTA-sponsored CEU activities you've attended, including event titles, dates of attendance, hours attended, and number of PDUs earned.
-
It’s that easy!
It is important to note that the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) requires practitioners to earn a minimum of 36 Professional Development Units (PDU) during each three-year cycle. One CEU is equal to ten PDUs.
